Hemant Soren’s Oath Ceremony In Jharkhand.


Hemant Soren is comparatively new to politics and definitely does not have the persona similar to either his father ‘Guruji’ Shibu Soren.However, the bespectacled Hemant has matured a lot in the last couple of years and is now heading a coalition government in Jharkhand.

Hemant Soren started showing his political maturity when he smoothly removed one of the major power centres of JMM, Hemlal Murmu, by not interfering with his decision of joining BJP. In fact, he was one of the major reasons of his father’s win recently from Dumka. Hemant started his political career on December 23, 2009 by getting elected as MLA

Hemant Soren took oath as chief minister of Jharkhand on Sunday. Hemant Soren was sworn in at the swearing-in ceremony in Ranchi. He came to power with the majority in the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition. Hemant Soren becomes the second Chief Minister. Governor Draupadi Murmu presided over the swearing-in ceremony. The oath-taking ceremony is at Moravadi Maidan. The day has been called ‘determination day’ by the Chief Minister’s Office.

The meeting was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, CPM’s Sitaram Yechury, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav and DMK’s MK Stalin.

Two Congress leaders Alamgir Alam and Rameshwar Orao and RJD MLA Satyanand Bhatta were sworn in with Hemant Soren on Sunday. They were sworn in as ministers of the state.

After the ceremony, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “I was present today at the swearing-in of Chief Minister Hemant Sorenji and the Congress party ministers. I am confident that the new government in Jharkhand will work for the welfare of all people and lead the state on a path to peace and prosperity.”

Hemant Soren thanked all the voters for giving them a clear majority. Tweeting a video before the swearing-in, he said, “I understand your expectations from the new government. I invite all of you to the oath-taking ceremony.

Even NCP chief Sharad Power and former President Pranab Mukherjee tweeted and congratulated the new Chief Minister.
